Manulife's history began in 1887, in Canada. The first Prime Minister of Canada, Sir John A. Macdonald was also our company's first president. Operating today as John Hancock in the United States and Manulife Financial Corporation (MFC) elsewhere, we are in 22 countries and territories covering countries across the globe like China, USA, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
At the end of 2015, we have approximately 34,000 employees, 63,000 agents, and thousands of distribution partners, serving over 20 million customers. As at June 2016, we have Canadian $934 billion in assets under management and administration. Manulife Holdings Berhad (Manulife Malaysia) was established in 1963 and is publicly listed on Bursa Saham Malaysia.
