- WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT ABOUT?
MANUPROTECT is a non-participating yearly renewable term plan that provides coverage on Death and Total and Permanent Disability. For Accidental Death prior to age 65 next birthday, this plan will pay an additional 100% of the Face Amount. ManuProtect is renewable up to age 80 next birthday.
ACCELERATED CRITICAL ILLNESS RIDER is an optional rider that advances 30% of basic plan’s Face Amount upon diagnosis of one of the specified critical illnesses, prior to age 65 next birthday. The Face Amount of the basic plan will be reduced by the amount claimed.
This is a pure protection product and it does not provide any savings or investment elements.

- HOW MUCH PREMIUM DO I HAVE TO PAY?
The total premium that you have to pay varies depending on the face amount chosen, your attained age, gender and smoking status. The premium is calculated based on the following formula:

Premium payable for subsequent years will be automatically adjusted based on your attained age next birthday at policy anniversary.
Premium rates may be reviewed by Manulife upon policy renewal. The Insured will be notified of the amended premium rate at least ninety (90) days prior to the renewal date.

Note: The premium and/or policy charges, whichever applicable, may be subject to taxes introduced by the Government of Malaysia from time to time. Manulife reserves the right to collect from you an amount equivalent to the prevailing rate of taxes payable for the premium and/or policy charges, as applicable. Your obligation to pay such taxes shall form part of the Terms and Conditions in your insurance policy.
- WHAT ARE THE FEES AND CHARGES THAT I HAVE TO PAY?
Stamp duty of RM10 is included in the premium.
- WHAT ARE SOME OF THE KEY TERMS AND CONDITIONS THAT I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?
- Importance of disclosure - you are required to disclose all the facts which you know or ought to know, fully and faithfully, otherwise the policy issued hereunder may be invalidated
- Free-look Period - you may cancel your policy by giving written notice to Manulife within 15 days from the receipt of the policy contract. The premiums that you have paid will be refunded to you.
- Grace Period - if you do not pay your premiums within the thirty (30) days grace period, your policy will lapse and cease to be in force.
- You are advised to name a nominee(s) for your insurance application to ensure smooth settlement of claims. You should also ensure that the nominee(s) is aware of the policy that you have purchased.

- WHAT ARE THE MAJOR EXCLUSIONS UNDER THIS POLICY?
- Death benefit is not payable under the policy if it is due to Insured, whether sane or insane, committing suicide within 13 months after the issue date or any reinstatement date, whichever is later.
- The Total and Permanent Disability Benefit does not cover any disability caused directly or indirectly, wholly or partly, by any one of the following occurrences:
- Any attempt at suicide, whether sane or insane, or any intentionally self-inflicted injuries; or
- Military air force or naval service in time of declared or undeclared war or while under orders for warlike operations or restoration of public order; or
- Commission of a criminal act; or
- Aviation activities other than as a fare paying passenger or crew on a commercial passenger airlines; or
- Under the influence of intoxicating liquor or as result of drug or substance abuse; or
- Participation in any hazardous pursuit such as, but not limited to, mountaineering, scuba diving, hang gliding, speed or endurance contest, etc.
- Accidental Death Benefit (s) does not cover any injury or loss caused directly or indirectly, wholly or partly, by:
- any attempt at suicide, whether sane or insane, or any intentionally self-inflicted injuries; or
- war, declared or undeclared, revolution or any warlike operations; or
- military, air force or naval service in time of declared or undeclared war or while under orders for warlike operations or restoration of public order; or
- commission of a criminal act; or
- participation in any brawl; or
- participation in hazardous pursuits, such as, but not limited to, mountaineering, scuba diving, racing on horse or wheels; or
- taking of poison or inhaling of gas or fumes, whether voluntarily or otherwise; or
- chronic illness pre-existing to an Accident; or
- accident occurring while or because the Insured is affected by alcohol or any substance abuse; or
- aviation activities other than as a fare paying passenger or crew on a regularly scheduled flight of an international commercial airline.
- No benefit is payable under Accelerated Critical Illness Rider (if attached):
- if the Covered Event is due to a Pre-existing Illness at the Issue Date or Reinstatement Date of the Rider, Pre-existing Illness shall mean disabilities that the Insured has reasonable knowledge of. An Insured may be considered to have reasonable knowledge of a Pre-existing Illness where the condition is one for which:
- the Insured had received or is receiving treatment;
- medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment has been recommended;
- clear and distinct symptoms are or were evident; or
- its existence would have been apparent to a reasonable person in the circumstances; or
- if the Covered Event is caused, directly or indirectly, by alcohol or substance abuse, congenital abnormalities including physical defects present from birth, attempted suicide or intentional selfinflicted injury; or
- if the Covered Event is due to participation in any hazardous pursuits, such as, but not limited to, mountaineering, scuba diving, hang gliding, racing on horse or wheels, etc; or
- Upon diagnosis or occurrence of this event occurred at the first 30 days after the Issue/Reinstatement date, whichever is later. This is applicable for Stroke and Kidney Failure except for Heart Attack, Cancer and Coronary Artery By-Pass Surgery, where a waiting period of 60 days from the Issue/Reinstatement date, whichever is later, is required.

- CAN I CANCEL MY POLICY?
You may cancel your policy by giving written notice to Manulife. However, buying a life policy is a long term financial commitment. If you do not pay your premiums within the thirty (30) days grace period, your policy may lapse.
